【Autonomous trucks】 The demonstration test was carried out that Platooning followed by 2 Non-Driver trucks

On 22nd February 2021, the demonstration test was carried out that Platooning followed by 2 Non-Driver trucks has run safely between Enshu-Morimachi PA and Hamamatsu PA on TOMEI highway. The whole project has been managed by both Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
This platooning technology enable 2 driverless trucks (an experienced person seated on passenger seat) to automatically follow the trajectory of the lead truck with constantly maintaining around 9-meter distance between trucks at the speed of 80km/h.
